Black Bird Hum brings festival vibes to NSW venues

Fresh off a standout performance at Australian Music Week, the vibrant sounds of Black Bird Hum are set to resonate across New South Wales this autumn, bringing their infectious big-band reggae to eager audiences.

Black Bird Hum, described by the AU Review as “one of the highlights” of the inaugural Australian Music Week, will be taking their full blooded big-band-reggae show on the road through NSW this Autumn.

The band, who have supported the likes of The Wailers, (JAM), Third World (JAM), Arrested Development (US), J Boog (US), Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Collie Buddz (US) and Six60 (NZ), and featured on festivals the prestigious Goa Sunsplash in India to Caloundra Music Festival back home are primed for a run of special shows, starting with a spot on the 28th Blue Mountains Music Festival.

“This festival has such a good reputation, and this year they’ve got some huge names like Sarah Blasko and Kim Churchill locked in,” said trombonist Scott Gregory.

“We’ve been keen to score a spot on this one for years”, says Scott. “We’re really pumped.”

The show will be followed by stops at a couple of the band’s favourite venues in the Federal Hotel at Bellingen on Friday, 2nd May and the Hoey Moey at Coffs on Sunday, 4th May.

Saturday night (3rd May) for that weekend will see a return to the Nimbin Mardi Grass Festival, this time as headliners.
