Following up on the NRL NSW Blues amazing win at state of Origin last Wednesday we witnessed Dillon Edwards who grew up in Dorrigo and who played an instrumental part in achieving their win. The whole team put in an exceptional effort and blitzed the field.
Dylan Edwards (born 10 January 1996) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a fullback for the Penrith Panthers in the NRL, New South Wales in State of Origin and Australia at international level. He is regarded as one of the best defensive fullbacks in the game.
Edwards made his NRL and Test debut as a winger. Edwards played fullback in the Panthers 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 NRL premierships wins.
On 26 May 2024 Edwards was named at fullback for New South Wales for Game 1 of the 2024 State of Origin series replacing incumbent fullback James Tedesco.[27] On 1 June, it was announced that Edwards would miss the state of origin opener after picking up a quad injury at training.[28] On 16 June, Edwards was selected by New South Wales for game two of the series after his return from injury, making his début in Game 2 in Melbourne on 25 June 2024.[29] Edwards played a total of 20 games for Penrith in the 2024 NRL season including their 14-6 grand final victory over Melbourne.[30]

In 2025, Dylan Edwards, a fullback for the Penrith Panthers in the NRL, played seven games and had 2 tries, 3 try assists, 3 line breaks, and 39 tackle breaks. He also made 36 tackles and missed 12, resulting in a tackle efficiency of 75%. He is known for his reliability and has been a consistent performer for the Penrith Panthers and New South Wales Blues. Edwards has been a key player for both the club and the Blues, contributing significantly to their success.
