MYLESTOM, NSW – The Bellinger Valley North Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) capped off a monumental year of dedicated volunteer beach safety and competitive triumphs at its annual presentation night on Saturday, with the club being lauded for its significant growth in membership and for hosting the “carnival of the decade.”
The Bellinger Valley North Beach Surf Live Saving Club (SLSC) celebrated a mammoth year of volunteer hours of beach safety at their annual presentation night in Mylestom.
The historic club also rejoiced in recently hosting the 2025 North Coast branch surf saving carnival, which has been referred to as the ‘carnival of the decade’ by regional SLSC officials.
It has also been recognised at a state SLSC level due to a significant growth in volunteer patrol members in the past 12 months and high rankings for competing members at state and national paddle events.
The club’s four patrol teams now have 54 qualified members thanks to Bronze Medallion training and weekly swim and rescue board exercises.
Club President Nick Young, captain Barry Mitchell, treasurer Bob Smith and all-round administrator Tracy Young have led the inspirational charge and were rewarded with huge rounds of applause at Saturday’s event. Barry Mitchell, Bob Smith and Tracy Young also received the Club Member of the Year, Male Member of the Year and Female Member of the Year Award respectivley.
