BELLINGEN – What started as a fun “Grocery Dash” at IGA has culminated in a significant community achievement, with local groups collectively raising $123,000 for Bellingen Hospita
A Community Effort for Bellingen Hospital
Some months ago, Bellingen Lions reached out to local organisations with a call for collaboration, an appeal to raise funds for much-needed equipment at our local Bellingen Hospital. The response from our members was an enthusiastic “YES!”. From there, the Rotary Club of Bellingen committed to raising $20,000 towards this vital cause.
Enter The Grocery Dash, an inspired idea brought to life in partnership with Bellingen IGA. For just $5 a ticket, entrants had the chance to win a 3-minute grocery dash through IGA, collecting up to $500 worth of groceries.
Locals and visitors alike joined in the fun, purchasing tickets and donating generously. Combined with our Market gate duties, another fund-raising activity, the support helped us reach our full $20,000 target, contributing to a staggering $123,000 raised collectively by Bellingen Lions, the Hospital Health Action Group, and other committed volunteer organisations.
This initiative wasn’t just a fundraiser; it was a joyful celebration of what we can achieve together for the betterment of healthcare in Bellingen Shire.
A special thank you to IGA Bellingen for partnering with us to bring this event to life. Congratulations to our Grocery DASH winner, Jo Parfett, who raced through the store with excitement at fever pitch! In just three minutes, Jo managed to rack up an impressive $526.81 worth of groceries………well done!
Thank you to everyone who bought tickets, made donations, or helped spread the word. Together, we’ve made a meaningful impact on the future of healthcare in our community. Together we unite for good to make a difference in our community.
