Celebrating the 23rd Annual Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival. The festival is renowned as a gathering place where fostering community, connection and participation comes first hand, where a family safe , sustainable, creative and inspiring event happens as performers gather from around the country and overseas to present a full weekend of incredible music. As the longest running folk festival on the Mid North Coast, for the small , dedicated festival committee the next couple of months gear up as we fine tune the set up, finalise the program and get the word out far and wide. Those who are familiar with the festival can be assured that we will be doing our very best to create a memorable experience for all who come. We have an exceptional line up of artists and you can be sure to capture the magic at any time over the weekend as we present concerts , dance and workshops across seven covered and seated venues. There is a full kids program on the Saturday and Sunday with creative activities and fun singing and engaging with some of our performers. This year we will have the ever popular Old-Time Hoedown on the Friday evening, a bush dance on the Saturday and a Cajun dance on the Sunday. The festival choir will be led by songwriters and instrumentalists Lawrence Menard and Clare Quinn from Those Folk, the SINners group will provide anyone who is after a taste of a hands on Bluegrass experience the opportunity to play their instrument and sing a couple of songs on stage on the Sunday morning. From songwriting , instrumental , arranging and vocal there will be ample workshops to join in and be inspired. Impromptu and led sessions are a highlight and don’t forget the Bluegrass and Poet’s Breakfasts. Whether you can come for a day or choose to camp up in the picturesque Showgrounds for the weekend , mark it on your calendars, book your tickets and most importantly tell your friends and spread the word. We can’t wait to see you there in the Springtime and in the meantime we would encourage you to visit the website for details about our performers and general information. Look out for more news about the festval in coming editions.
