Peter Allison [Fernmount] and his Kurrawa SLSC teammate Phil Dutton [Southport] have set a new world record of 18.45 seconds in the 70 yrs+ division of the two-person line throw relay at the National SLS Pool Rescue Championships held in Adelaide Aug 8-10.
Their feat smashed the national record which had stood at 25.58 seconds by a massive 7.13 seconds.
The pair of lifesavers won gold in this event at the 2024 World Life Saving Championships and still hold the Australian record of 16.94 seconds for the 60 yrs+ division they set back in 2019.
In individual events at the carnival which saw around 400 competitors and 60 officials assemble, Peter set a second Australian record in the 75 yrs+ category when he won the 50m manikin carry. He also won gold in the 100m obstacle race, the 100m manikin tow with fins and the 100m manikin carry with fins.
The 2026 National titles will return to Adelaide with next years world championships to be held in South Africa.
