The Ladies competition on Friday, 15 August, saw Deborah Lindsay secure top spot with a steady 35 points, followed by Suzanne McLean on 32. Lyn Bastick finished third with 31, while Wendy O’Neill returned 26. A tight cluster saw Lois Milham and Jeanette Robinson both card 25, with Shirley Shelton and Jenny Tierney just behind on 23.

The pairing of Michael Trist and Dean Burkitt finished runners-up with 65, while Brian Morris and Brett Davis edged into third on countback with 66.5. On Monday, 18 August, thirty-four competitors took part in the Vets Championships. After a tight contest, Tom Faulkner prevailed on countback with a fine nett 69, just ahead of Robert Jones who matched the score. Arthur Hassett secured third with 71, also on countback. Other strong performers included Dennis Holmstrom on 71, Brian Morris and Colin Haworth on 72, and Kevin Sanford on 73. Nearest to the pin prizes went to Faulkner on the 3rd, Jones on the 9th and Warren Rawlings on the 18th. Paul Bastick claimed the longest putt on the 8th/17th, while Ross Hardaker picked up the Bradman’s Prize.
Although persistent rain over the last week saw five rounds of competition cancelled, which was disappointing for members, the forecast of fine weather should see play return to normal and plenty of golf back on course.
