The Urunga Sail Training Club has had a rocky start this year, after Cyclone Alfred and then the East Coast Low affecting the Mid North Coast making the rivers at Urunga un-sailable.
‘Our two Rivers didn’t get the tragedy that unfolded on the Hastings River further south, with record flood conditions, but we still coped the effects with our February Sailing course, and then had to cancel our May course, ’ Derek Ridgley, Principle of the Urunga Sail Training Club said, ‘ It took the river and tides nearly a month after each event to flush out all the floodwaters, floating logs and debris. It’s been a tough year and so good to see the sunshine and clear rivers again’
The new sailing season has started and the New Courses are happening again on October 18.
The Australian Sailing, Start Sailing 1 and 2 national small boat sailing courses are taught by Accredited sailing instructors and is available for all age groups so no prior skills are necessary. Book through 0427115892 or email urungasailtraining@gmail.com
The team of volunteers are looking forward to sailing again - the Club always welcomes the community to get involved, learn to sail and assist on Sailing days and experience sailing our beautiful waterways.
