$5 million safety upgrade for Waterfall Way

Member for Oxley Michael Kemp has welcomed the NSW Government’s regional road safety upgrades, including more than $6.5 million for two critical traffic corridors in the Oxley electorate.

Waterfall Way will get $5 million for roadside barriers, shoulder widening, and corner safety upgrades at Old Hillgrove Road, Metz ($2.6m), and Bullock Creek No. 2, Ebor ($2.4m).

$1.5 million will also be invested to widen shoulders and improve safety on corners on the Oxley Highway (Walcha – Honeysuckle Creek, Yarrowitch).

Mr Kemp said the investment will help reduce crash risks on notoriously difficult stretches of road that locals know too well.

“Anyone who drives Waterfall Way or the Oxley Highway understands how dangerous these routes can be, especially in poor weather. This funding is welcome recognition that our communities deserve safer roads,” Mr Kemp said.

“Everyday families, farmers, truckies, and tourists rely on these corridors. Whether it’s kids on their way to school, freight deliveries, or emergency services responding to calls, safety on these roads is non-negotiable.”

Mr Kemp said he would continue to advocate for further upgrades to the Oxley electorate’s road network.

“We know there’s more work to be done. I am pushing for a safe and reliable alternative route to Waterfall Way, as well as long overdue safety solutions at the Wrights Road and Lake Road roundabouts in Port Macquarie.”

The projects are part of the NSW Government’s Towards Zero Safer Roads Program, which has invested $46 million across NSW in the latest round of upgrades.
