Club Golf Action Heats Up: Inskip, Kennedy, and Martin Lead the Way

Monday, 17 November drew 27 entrants for the Men’s Vets Stableford, where Peter Inskip topped the field with an excellent 42 points. Peter Drysdale followed with 40, while Kim Michelsen claimed third on 38 after a countback. Michelsen also won nearest the pin on the 3rd, Colin Haworth took the 9th, and Tom Faulkner secured the 18th.

On Wednesday, 19 November, the Ladies Monthly Stableford Bonanza Final delivered consistent scoring. Karen Kennedy led the way with 40 points, ahead of Jeanette Robinson on 39 and Kay Saye on 37.

Thursday, 20 November saw the Medley Single Stableford contested by 17 players, with Shortland Waters visitor David Busch winning on 39 points. Rudolf Brocker finished second with 38, while Richard Warner placed third with 37. Nearest the pin winners were Anthony Shields on the 3rd, while Busch claimed both the 9th and 18th.

Friday, 21 November featured the Ladies Medal of Medals Stroke event, where Wendy Martin impressed with a nett 68 to secure first place. Suzanne McLean finished second on 71, and Wendy O’Neill completed the podium with 72.

Saturday, 22 November’s Medley vs Par event saw Rex Anthony produce the day’s best score with +3. Linne Street followed closely with +2, while Adam Crotty secured third on +1 after a countback. Nearest the pin winners were David McBaron on the 3rd, Street on the 9th, Terry O’Neill on the 12th, and Roger Young on the 16th.

Monday, 24 November marked the Rod Fussell Memorial Day, attracting a field of 29. Gary Teale claimed victory with a nett 70, with Colin Haworth finishing second on 71 and Warren Rawlings taking third on 73 after a countback. Nearest the pin prizes went to Grant Cardow on the 3rd and Robert Jones on the 18th.

On Wednesday, 26 November, Lois Milham delivered a strong 43 points to take out the Ladies Single Stableford. Jenny Tierney finished second with 38, and Donna Navin earned third place on 36.

Thursday, 27 November brought a competitive Medley Single Stableford, where Bruce Moore posted 40 points for the win. Joe Street followed with 37, and Brett Bosbach secured third with 36 after a countback. Visiting brothers Peter and Brian Schweitzer from Kyogle Golf Club were prominent in the nearest the pin results, with Joe Street taking the 3rd, Brian winning the 9th and 16th, Peter claiming the 12th, and Brian finishing the day by securing the 18th.

Friday, 28 November saw Donna Navin prevail in the Ladies Stableford with 40 points, ahead of Karen Kennedy on 39 and Deborah Lindsay on 38.

The week wrapped up on Saturday, 29 November with the Medley 4BBB Stableford. Brian Schweitzer and Bruce Moore combined brilliantly to post 46 points for the win. John Piggott and Kim Michelsen secured second on 45, while Ross Walburn and Roger Young finished third with 42. Nearest the pin honours went to Kim Michelsen on the 3rd, Frank Partland on the 9th, Roger Young on the 12th, and Peter Schweitzer on the 18th.

Friday the 5th of December features the annual Urunga Surf Club Charity Golf Day. The 3 man Ambrose still has some spots available. The 9am shotgun start is $200 per team and includes golf, BBQ lunch and a beverage voucher. Call the club on 66556161 to enter your team.
