Crowd Cheers for Talent at Annual Dorrigo Show

The McGregor Gourlay Dorrigo Show, held on 21 and 22 November, once again brought colour, excitement and community pride to the plateau. With strong crowds across both days, smiling visitors and a full program of events, this year’s show was a wonderful reminder of why this annual tradition means so much to locals and visitors alike.

From early morning horse events to bustling pavilion entries, there was no shortage of talent and enthusiasm. Livestock judging drew excellent competitors, with impressive entries in the beef and dairy cattle sections. Horse classes showcased skill and dedication from riders of all ages, and the ever-popular woodchop events drew big applause as competitors demonstrated speed, strength and precision.  The Rodeo, as always, did not disappoint with plenty of action, thrills and spills that entertained the large crowd.

Inside the pavilion, creativity was on display across every table and shelf with baking, preserves, produce, floral art, handicrafts, photography and junior entries that made families proud.  The very popular Men’s Chocolate Cake competition was more popular than ever with lots of men eager to see which one was the judge’s favourite.

Families enjoyed the sideshow games, children’s entertainment, animal encounters and friendly atmosphere that filled the grounds from start to finish. The show once again proved that simple country fun never goes out of style, even if the weather was a little bit unkind at times.  The rain wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of the crowd with a large crowd sticking around as the fireworks lit up the night sky to signal the end of another successful Dorrigo Show.

The heart of the Dorrigo Show has always been its people. Sponsors, stewards, judges, exhibitors, spectators and competitors all came together in the true country show tradition – supporting one another, celebrating achievements and keeping rural heritage alive.

Excitement has already begun for next year’s Show. Planning is underway to build on the success of 2025, introduce fresh ideas, and keep the traditions that everyone loves.

Thank you to everyone who visited, competed, sponsored, supported or simply shared a smile at the show this year. The Dorrigo community comes together for this wonderful event every November, and we are already looking forward to seeing you all again in 2026.
