The Bellingen community will be able to access their pool just in time for the summer holidays, with the Bellingen Pool set to reopen on Monday 22 December.
The opening of the pool was delayed because of construction on the Connell Park Precinct that will see the pool complex upgraded with new facilities including a brand-new accessible amenity building, new storage sheds and a refreshed entrance.
Mayor Cr. Steve Allan is excited about the new and improved pool facilities for pool users.
“We know that the community has been anxiously waiting for the reopening of the Bellingen Pool, and I can tell you that it will be worth the wait,” said Mayor Allan.
“The contractors have been working seven days a week for the past month to get everything finished and ready for the pool to open before Christmas.”
Community Aquatics, Council’s new pool contractor, has been putting the finishing touches on the facility and has some exciting activities and programs planned for the season.
“When the pool opens, we will have the full range of traditional pool services, such as learn to swim, aqua aerobics and swim squads, as well as some inflatables for special days in the school holidays,” said Brad Paterson, Community Aquatics BSC Pool Contract Manager.
“We have had a great response from the community, with more than 20 local lifeguards trained and ready to start work when we open on the 22 December.”
“Increasing the capacity of the community, including training local teachers in CPR and Teaching of Swimming Awards, is part of our commitment to consistent opening times for both Bellingen and Dorrigo pools.”
