As the 40th year of Camp Creative approaches it is also the end of an era as three of its longest serving members will be retiring after over 75 years of voluntary service between them. Michelle has been a secretary, coordinator and photographer. Bob has been and is currently President, concert compere & organiser and coordinator. Sandrena has been a tutor before 2000 and in the modern era; President and committee member for 12 years; and she has coordinated the catering for our welcome functions for many years.
Bob Stockton, President, commented, “it has been a wonderful experience enhanced by exceptional community members like Gillian Helfgott, Peter Nance, Robbie Spence and Kerry Child. While it is a milestone year, it is also a year where we will have 1200 campers, a figure that has only been realized once in the last 25 years since the camp came back to Bellingen High school in 2000.”
Bob explained, “It is time for new members to join the committee. Normally, this sort of request sends people running for the door, but the current committee is a wonderful supportive group that is excited to welcome new members. I can’t recall any disputes that were not handled by common sense. Camp Creative has been the most rewarding thing we have done in the community.

Camp Creative History: Changing of the Guard Tribute
Camp Creative was only a teenager when it returned to its birthplace at Bellingen High School in the year 2000. Bob Stockton, Michelle Stockton and Ute Schulenberg have produced a commemorative booklet starting in 1986 and finishing in 2026. So many wonderful Bellingen people have been part of this journey and while many are sadly not with us their contribution to this unique festival has been captured. The 28-page booklet is proudly printed by Graham and Maree Martindale. It is available for $10 which is marginally more than a cup of coffee. The fantastic contribution of another local, Ben Eckersley is really appreciated. It will be on sale during Camp Creative – Jan 12 to 16, 2026 at both Bellingen High School & St Mary’s campuses.
