Countbacks Rule the Greens at C.ex Urunga Club

C.ex Urunga Golf Club’s Men’s Veterans teed off the week on Monday, 1 December 2025, with a Stableford played on the GA Course. Lawrie Renshall led the field with an outstanding 41 points to claim first place, finishing three clear of the chasing pack. Brett Bosbach secured second on 38 points after a countback, with Gary Teale also posting 38 to finish third. Nearest the pin honours were shared across the course, with Ross Hardaker accurate on the 3rd, Alan Titley closest on the 9th, and John Leahy claiming the 18th.

The Ladies Single Stableford on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, produced some excellent scoring. Helen Trist delivered a strong round to take top honours with 40 points. Karen Kennedy finished second on 39 points following a countback, edging out Wendy Martin, who also recorded 39 to finish third.

Medley golf was on show on Thursday, 4 December 2025, during a closely contested Single Stableford. Robert Jones claimed victory after a countback on 37 points, narrowly ahead of Garry Swain in second, also on 37. Joe Street completed the podium with 37 points to finish third after another countback. Nearest the pin prizes went to John Piggott on the 3rd, Garry Swain on the 9th, Joe Street on the 16th, and Robert Jones on the 18th.

Saturday, 6 December 2025, featured the Men’s Monthly Medal, played as a nett stroke event. Anthony Campbell emerged the winner after a countback with a nett 70. Arthur Hassett finished second, also on 70, while Robert Jones rounded out the top three with a countback third on the same score. Nearest the pin accolades were claimed by John Leahy on the 3rd, Joe Street on the 9th, Kim Michelsen on the 12th, and Terry O’Neill on the 18th.

Men’s Veterans returned on Monday, 8 December 2025, for a hotly contested Stableford. Mike Edsall secured first place after a countback on 37 points. Pete Brotherton finished second, also on 37, with Andrew O’Keeffe taking third on the same score. O’Keeffe was nearest the pin on the 3rd, while Warren Rawlings collected both the 9th and 18th nearest the pin prizes.

The Ladies 2-Player Ambrose was played on Wednesday, 10 December 2025. Jenny Tierney and Lyn Bastick combined superbly to claim first place with a winning score of 70. Rose Wiblin and Karen Kennedy finished second on 75, while Marlene Bishop and Faye Jones secured third with 77.75.

The week concluded on Thursday, 11 December 2025, with a Medley Stableford. Jack Smith topped the leaderboard with an impressive 39 points. Frank Partland finished second on 35, while Robert Jones took third with 34. Nearest the pin prizes were won by Martin Tizzard on the 3rd, Robert Jones on the 9th, and Brett Bosbach on the 16th.
