Michelsen Claims Anchors Wharf Hole in One

C.ex Urunga Golf Club witnessed a memorable moment on Friday, 29 November 2025, when Kim Michelsen claimed the Anchors Wharf Café Hole in One Prize with a superb strike on the 3rd hole. Playing the 155-metre hole into a stiff headwind, Michelsen opted for a controlled 6-iron knockdown that looked destined for the flag from the moment it left the club. The ball landed softly on the green before rolling directly into the cup, sparking high fives and celebrations with his playing partners. Remarkably, it marked Michelsen’s third hole in one, adding to previous aces recorded at Sawtell and Coffs Harbour.

The Anchors Wharf Café hole-in-one sponsorship has been running since April 2021, starting at $300 and increasing by $25 each week. The prize reached $1,200 in December 2021 and had remained unclaimed until Michelsen’s remarkable shot finally ended the wait. The initiative was the brainchild of former club president David McGilvray and Anchors Wharf owner Steve Ryan, whose ongoing support has been vital to the promotion’s success. C.ex Urunga club manager Matt O’Donnell said he was thrilled that Steve Ryan has committed to continuing the sponsorship, describing it as a significant boost for the club and its members. The 3rd hole will now reset to $300 and jackpot by $25 each week on Saturdays, while the Thursday competition prize remains at $1,200.
