Another awesome Camp Creative has entrenched Bellingen as the arts capital of the north coast region.
More than 1200 ‘campers’ took part in 90 different arts and crafts classes at venues across town and joined evening celebrations like the traditional Party in the Park, which was held at the Memorial Hall this year.
Camp Creative’s 40th birthday ended on a high Friday evening with the Grand Finale featuring renowned composer Paul Jarman and the launch of a commemorative booklet.
Camp Creative’s Guide coordinator Eve Pullinger described the five-day long atmosphere as ‘electric’.
“It was so hectic for the committee and all the guides, but it was absolutely worth it because we had so many happy campers at the end of the week,” Eve said.
Camp Creative has grown into a 40-year-old Bellingen social, cultural and economic success story. It hatched Bellingen’s reputation as the arts capital of the north coast, and this year’s event was estimated to inject $1.2 million into the local economy.
