Camp Creative calls for new committee members.
Camp Creative has been part of the Bellingen community for four decades, bringing people together each January to learn, make, play and connect. What many people don’t realise is that Camp Creative is a not for profit event, run almost entirely by volunteers.
This year marks a big change for the organisation. Our President, Secretary and one other long-standing committee member will be retiring from their roles after many years of service. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and the care they have shown Camp Creative over a long period of time.
Now, we are looking for some new people to join the committee and help carry Camp Creative into the future.
Being a committee member is a voluntary position. There is no payment, but there is a real sense of purpose and connection that comes from being part of something that matters to this town. We are looking for people who understand that volunteering does require time and follow through. The committee meets once a month, in person, in Bellingen, and members each take responsibility for a small, defined task across the year.
These tasks are not overwhelming, but they do make a huge difference. Sharing the load helps take pressure off the Event Coordinator, who manages the overall running of Camp Creative.
One of the roles would be managing our list of volunteers and organising their roster. We also need someone with good local connections, who could approach local businesses about sponsorship to help fund the event.
Another much needed role is coordinating raffle prizes by contacting local businesses and collecting donations in the lead up to the event. We also need someone to organise our tutor welcome drinks evening. The committee also comes together for the week of Camp Creative, to do tasks such as setting up and packing down venues, managing the offices and running the merchandise stall.
You don’t need to have committee experience. What matters most is reliability, a willingness to pitch in, and the capacity to take responsibility for a task and see it through. If you care about Camp Creative, community events, or keeping something special going in Bellingen, we would love to hear from you.

We’re looking for locals who care about Camp Creative and have the time to help in a practical way. Committee roles are voluntary and we meet once a month, in person, in Bellingen. Each committee member also looks after a small task during the year, which helps take pressure off the Event Coordinator.
Some of the help we need includes:
• Managing the volunteer spreadsheet and creating their roster
• Reaching out to local businesses for sponsorship
• organising the welcome dinner (venue, food and drinks)
• Sourcing raffle prizes from local businesses
You don’t need committee experience. You do need to be reliable, able to attend meetings, and happy to take responsibility for a task and follow it through.
