In 2025, the Wyz Wimmin & Friends brought ‘This is Me’ to Bellingen’s Memorial Hall and played to a packed audience. This year the Company is returning with its ten-year retrospective, ‘Play it Again’.
On Saturday 14th March it comes to the Memorial Hall, and the next day will be at Dorrigo’s Gazette Theatre, with both performances at 2.00 pm.
Ten scripts have been chosen from a playlist of forty and ‘Play it Again’ will bring some of the Company’s favourite characters back to the stage. Funny, poignant and at times surprising, these characters have mostly been inspired by real events and everyday dilemmas; every character is so authentic, audiences feel they’ve met them somewhere. (Note: Adult themes and language.)
Theatre scripts are generally written by playwrights who live in cities. Very often what is presented on regional stages has been written by American or English playwrights. Since formation the WW&F’s scripts have been written by award winning local playwrights, whose work has been presented by city companies with great success. Closer to home, a journalist wrote that the high standard of the WW&F’s productions means that rural audiences no longer need to travel to Brisbane or Sydney for ‘top shelf entertainment’.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online (it is a really simple process). ‘Our site links to Humanitix as our booking agency because the profit from the small booking fee is used for humanitarian purposes and we are pleased to support that ideal,’ the WW&F’s producer said. Bookings: wyzwimmin.org.au
If not sold out online, door sales will be cash only: no EFTPOS sales.
