After recording their most ambitious project to date at Peter Gabriel’s iconic Real World Studios in the UK, international collective The Three Seas are set to launch their new album, Antahkarana, at the Bellingen Memorial Hall on April 25.
International world fusion act “The Three Seas” return to Australia to launch Antahkarana, their most expansive work to date. Written and recorded at Peter Gabriel’s legendary Real-World Studios in the UK, the album brings together musicians from Australia and West Bengal, marking 15 years of musical exchange and collaboration. Their last tour really stamped their prowess on the scene with rave reviews and enthralled audiences.
“Crunchy grooves and Indian poets combine to absorbing effect” — Songlines
Their sound weaves Baul mysticism, Himalayan folk, spiritual jazz, dub, folk-rock, and global grooves. Sung in Bengali, Hindi, Nepali, and English, Antahkarana takes its name from the Sanskrit word for “inner instrument”, the meeting place of memory, intuition, identity, and soul. Ancient poetry sits inside dub grooves, Nepali folk melodies entwine with baritone sax riffs, and chants resonate alongside rock and electronica.
Live, The Three Seas create immersive performances for the body and mind. Moving between big dancefloor energy and reflective, meditative spaces, The Three Seas invite audiences into a collective experience grounded in rhythm, unity, and shared humanity.
You can catch this great act in the evening at Bellingen Memorial Hall on the 25th of April, This performance is part of The Three Seas’ national tour supported by Creative Australia, Sound NSW and the Freedman Foundation. Presented by UMBL Music
