Local Talent Shines: 2026 Dorrigo Easter Art Awards Announced

By Michael Burt

The 2026 Dorrigo Easter Art Exhibition has helped provide a vital boost for the Dorrigo community and small businesses impacted by the Waterfall Way closure.

More than 1500 people viewed 120 entries in this year's exhibition, which featured Painting; Watercolour; Drawing & Printmaking; Photography; Sculpture; Fibre Art and Youth 13-18yrs and Textiles categories.

The weeklong exhibition coincided with the traditional Made in Dorrigo markets held on Easter Saturday.

Vice president of the Arts Council of Dorrigo, Penelepe Lowther, described the 2026 exhibition as a ‘huge success’ for the community and artists.

“The town was full over the Easter weekend and there was a great vibe all weekend,” Penelope said.

“It was also a good selling year for the artists with a lot of the works being sold.”

The inclusive art exhibition has been running since 1990 and has become a cultural highlight on the Dorrigo Plateau.

On The Edge was this year’s theme- Inspired by a landscape of waterfalls and escarpments, breath-taking views, bold leaps and risk taking in life and art practice.

This year’s Dorrigo Easter Art Exhibition was curated by Rudy Kistler and Sue Langfield and judged by Pamela Denise from Nymboida and local artist David Tucker.

The Arts Council of the Dorrigo is grateful to the Bellingen Shire Council for their support through the Community Grants program.
