Locals and visitors enjoyed a stroll along a new 500m stretch of the Urunga Boardwalk over the Easter weekend.
The new section of Urunga Boardwalk opened last week and features two breakout areas to sit and take in the stunning views.
“This is fantastic for our community, and I can’t wait to see everyone making the most of this incredible space,” said Urunga local and Mayor Steve Allan.
Work is continuing on the south arm section, which is expected to open in mid-May.
The fabrication of components for the final 360 metres of the project is underway, and demolition of this section is expected to start in early June.
The historic boardwalk, which has undergone multiple transformations, will be wider and supported by more 300 driven poles made from fibre reinforced polymer (FRP).
