There’s always a reason to escape to the water – sailing on it, being in it and just experiencing.
The Learn to Sail students enjoyed our beautiful Kalang River at Urunga during February and March. The tides and wind were against them for the last day’s sail to Mylestom and back however.
The new courses at the Urunga Sail Training Club are starting soon on the 2nd of May, to book just email: urungasailtraining@gmail.com
The Australian Sailing Senior Sailing assessor will be visiting the Club on the 6th and 7th June to hold Instructor training courses for our assistant and trainee Instructors to get their accreditations. The Discover Sailing Centre focusses on sailing pathway training for beginners to instructors with our junior sailing programs, and also to teach the general public ‘How to Sail’, no matter what their ability or their age.
The Club is also conducting a Safety Boat Operators Course on Friday 5th of June.
It is designed to develop skills needed to support water-based activities at club’s, schools and outdoor recreation centres. Participants will learn specialist skills about Race course design, practice on-water rescue of sailing dinghies and gain awareness to assist kayakers and kite-surfers, providing ongoing training and development of our juniors and the community with other on-water activities.
Visit the website www.sailurunga.org.au if you are interested in doing this course.
