Doug Springall set the standard on Thursday, 2 July, claiming the Medley Single Stableford with a solid 34-point round. Bruce Parker finished two points behind in second on 32, while Martin Tizzard edged John Leahy on a countback after both players finished on 29 points to secure third place.

The ladies took centre stage on Friday, 3 July, for the Parish Cup Stableford, where Dianne O’Leary was the only player to match her handicap, returning 36 points to take the honours. Donna Navin finished runner-up with 31 points, while Christine Fahey claimed third after prevailing on a countback with 28 points.

Roger Young produced the standout performance of the week in the Monthly Medal on Saturday, 4 July, firing an outstanding nett 65 to win comfortably. Michael Bleakley was next best with a nett 69, while John Leahy secured third on a countback after carding nett 72. Precision around the greens was rewarded with nearest-the-pin prizes going to Kim Michelsen on the 3rd, Robert Jones on the 9th, John Piggott on the 12th and Young rounding out his impressive day on the 18th.

The Men’s Veterans Stableford on Monday, 6 July, delivered the week’s defining moment when Kim Michelsen aced the 16th hole to earn the club’s Great Score award. While the hole-in-one stole the spotlight, it was Michael Bellew who claimed the competition with 36 points, one clear of Michelsen on 35. Arthur Hassett secured third after winning a countback on 34 points. Michelsen also collected the nearest-the-pin prize on the 3rd, with Gary Teale taking the honours on the 9th and Lawrie Renshall closest on the 18th.

Round one of the Ladies Championship on Wednesday, 8 July, produced a tightly packed leaderboard. Deborah Lindsay took the early advantage after edging Faye Jones on a countback, both players finishing with nett 75, while Rosalyn Inskip remained well within striking distance after posting a nett 76.

Peter Drysdale carried that momentum into Thursday, 9 July, producing the best score of the Medley Single Stableford with 38 points. Peter Jenson claimed second on a countback after finishing on 36 points, with Kevin Sanford also returning 36 points to complete the podium.

The race for the Ladies Championship tightened considerably on Friday, 10 July, as Faye Jones responded with the round of the day, a superb nett 73. Shirley Shelton continued her consistent form to finish second with a nett 74, while Donna Navin edged Lisa Guest on a countback after both players returned nett 75.

Tom Cornelius closed out the week’s play in style on Saturday, 11 July, winning the Medley Single Stableford with an excellent 38 points. Roger Young continued his impressive run of form to finish second on 37 points, while John Greensill claimed third after winning a countback with 35 points. The nearest-the-pin prizes were shared by Warren Rawlings on the 3rd, Cornelius on the 9th, Grant Homes on the 12th, Arthur Hassett on the 16th and Andrew Trist on the 18th, bringing another successful week of winter golf at Urunga to a fitting conclusion.
