C.ex Urunga Golf Club’s veterans opened the week on Monday, 6 April 2026 with a tightly contested Stableford, where Mike Edsalls steady hands prevailed on a countback with 42 points from Waz Botfield, who matched the winning tally but settled for second. David McBaron showed his class after his Urunga Open win, securing third place with 38 points in a solid round. Nearest the pin honours went to David McGilvray on the 3rd, Alan Titley on the 9th and McBaron on the 18th.

The ladies were in action on Wednesday, 8 April 2026 for a single stroke nett event, where Karen Kennedy produced the best score of the day with a composed 76 to take the honours. Rosalie Telford followed closely with 77, while Lisa Guest rounded out the podium with 78 in consistent scoring conditions.

Thursday, 9 April 2026 saw a strong medley Stableford field take to the course, with David McGilvray was in irresistible touch, racking up 40 points to win by daylight from Sean Lowrey on 38, with Martin Tizzard’s 37 good enough for third. In the nearest the pin contests, Bruce Moore collected the 3rd and 16th, Grant Squires struck the shots of the day on the 9th and 18th, and John Leahy was precise on the 12th.

In the ladies’ monthly medal on Friday, 10 April 2026, Lyn Bastick stood tallest with a polished 68 nett to comfortably claim victory. Nearest the pin winners included Murray Smith on the 3rd, Jones adding another prize on the 9th, Kim Michelsen on the 12th, Adam Crotty on the 16th and Tommy Martin on the 18th, while Peter Denham’s eagle on the 14th earned the day’s standout performance.

The veterans returned on Monday, 13 April 2026, with Pete Brotherton claiming victory on 39 points. Alan Titley finished second with 36, and Peter Inskip secured third on a countback with 34. Nearest the pin winners were Neil Richardson on the 3rd, Selwyn Newby on the 9th and Kim Michelsen on the 18th.

On Wednesday, 15 April 2026, the ladies contested a Stableford, where Faye Jones impressed with 40 points to win. Lisa Guest finished second on a countback with 37, narrowly ahead of Wendy Martin who also posted 37 in another closely fought event.

Thursday, 16 April 2026, saw Waz Botfield convert consistency into cash with a winning 37 in the medley Stableford, edging Dale Tierney on countback 36, with Brett Bosbach close enough in third with the same score. Nearest the pin honours went to Douglas Springall on the 3rd, Bruce Moore on the 16th, John Piggott on the 18th and Bruce Parker on the 9th.

The fortnight closed on a high note with the two-player Ambrose on Saturday, 18 April 2026, where Tim Rodgers and David Saunders combined beautifully for a winning 63, staying just ahead of Darren Taylor and Mick Wood on 64.5 after countback, and Stephen Hayes partnering Kim Michelsen to also post 64.5 for third. Nearest the pin winners were Bruce Moore on the 3rd, Garry Swain on the 9th, Darren Taylor on the 12th, Beau Davis on the 16th and Arthur Hassett on the 18th, capping off another busy stretch of competition at Urunga.
