Just Like You and Me
As a manager in an insurance company, I was required to visit repairers doing repairs for us. Sitting on a milk crate in the driveway of a panel shop in West Sydney whilst Allan brood Türkiye coffee which was handed too me in a little porcelain cup more like a small bowl cracked from age and use with Persian style colouring and design.
Allan I would say was in his 70’s stocky with a belly and an unkept grey beard, softly spoken and very respectful, I could have been in another country, this is Australia.

Hang In There For That Free Ride
Certainly, a humid Three and a half months to date with well below the normal rainfall which may if as predicted be the onset of a very dry period. The current run of totally cloudless days, I can’t recall. If predictions are correct maybe a frosty winter, so bite the bullet and prepare for a fire prone spring and early summer.
Australia, a country having become incredibly wealthy off the back of a resources boom, spending the cash on cheap imports. To claim that we have become fat and complacent would be an understatement. Hopefully the current fuel fiasco, but probably not, will be the wake-up call that gets the message across to be self-sufficient. Allowing ourselves to reach the current situation is frightening and borders on criminal neglect. Now a welfare state with an ever-reducing minority asked to shoulder the burden for the majority. Once embraced difficult to back step on, short of a huge economic disaster. Just three examples sending us to the wall, a bloated public service, bankrupting the private sector with red tape, the N.D.I.S. had its merits but has resulted into a monster via mismanagement and rorting. The third being the unachievable goal of net zero. Renewable energy has its merits but to shut down our country in pursuit of a goal, impossible to achieve in such a short time frame. How many billions in subsidies being concealed, is destroying small businesses by the thousands with productivity collapsing across the board. Our V.G. recipient charged for something which is yet to be proven during the war in Afghanistan. The cost to date to reach this point $300 million (yes ($300 million. Finally, to be a farmer, cattle prices collapsing, diesel $3.20 if obtainable, urea a crucial fertiliser reported to of risen from $700 to 16 or 18 hundred dollars a tonne. Hang in there if you have that government job.
