You’re invited: Women’s Potluck Get-togethers in Bellingen
Following the recent Listening to Women in Bellingen survey, the Bellingen Country Women’s Association has taken a simple but thoughtful step to respond to what local women shared—creating more opportunities to connect in relaxed, welcoming ways.
One of the strongest messages from the survey was that connection doesn’t need to be complicated. Women spoke about the value of informal, low-pressure spaces where they can spend time together, meet new people, and feel part of the community. In response, the CWA has established a series of Women’s Potluck Get-togethers, held monthly throughout the year.
These gatherings began in December, and have now been running for several months. Each one has been warm, relaxed, and full of life—bringing together a mix of familiar and new faces. Women have been sharing stories, recipes, and everyday moments, building connections in simple and genuine ways. There have been children playing down at the skate park, babies in arms, and conversations flowing across the shared table.
A consistent feature of the get-togethers is the welcome table. For anyone arriving on their own or new to town, it offers an easy place to sit, meet others, and start a conversation, with a friendly face always there to greet you. It’s one of the ways the gatherings are intentionally designed to be inclusive and accessible for everyone.
All women are warmly welcome, and children are encouraged to come along too. Each gathering is a shared table, with everyone invited to bring a plate—homemade or store-bought, sweet or savoury—contributing to a generous and communal spread.
More than just an event, these get-togethers are beginning to take shape as part of the fabric of the town—a place and space people can rely on. A regular opportunity to connect, to feel welcome, and to be part of something that strengthens community over time.
The CWA has long been a place where women come together to support one another, share experiences, and build community. These potluck gatherings are a natural continuation of that tradition
The Women’s Potluck Get-togethers are held monthly at the CWA Hall on Church Street. Dates and further details are available via the QR code below.
