Bellingen Hospital and Pink Auxiliary has donated more than $70,000 to Bellinger River District Hospital in the past year.
The Bellingen branch of the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW (UHA) held its Annual General Meeting in August, reflecting on a massive year that culminated in many donations including a high/low bed, overbed tables, a wheelchair and three recliners.
President Waveney Ayscough attributed this achievement to the dedication and hard work of the hospital volunteers, many of whom serve at Mary’s Tea House, the branch’s primary fundraiser.
Ms Ayscough thanked the volunteers who contributed to a highly successful year.
“Our volunteers have shown remarkable commitment, whether working in the café, selling raffle tickets, or assisting at the Bellingen Market Stall,” Ms Ayscough said.
“Thanks to our growing volunteer base the café is open five days a week. The café’s reputation for its delicious food is even drawing visitors from out of town,
“It’s also wonderful that the café provides a space for visitors, patients and staff to chill and chat to our friendly, caring volunteers.”
The North East Regional representative for the UHA, Dee Hunter, conducted the election of office bearers which saw unanimous support for Ms Ayscough to continue as President and Carol Gibson as Treasurer. Vice-president is Margot Pleasant, Secretary is Craig Dempsey. Nancy Hobson remains as Patron for the branch.
Acting Hospital Executive Officer Chantel Baker expressed her deepest gratitude to the volunteers for all their support for the hospital and its community.
The funds raised significantly enhance patient care, and our staff greatly appreciate the support,” Ms Baker said.
“The café is a vital part of our hospital, offering great coffee for staff and a comforting space for the loved ones of our patients.”
“Words cannot fully express our appreciation and connection we have with our Bellingen UHA. We hope you know you are cherished, respected, and integral to our health family at Bellingen.”
