8-Time ARIA Winner Joseph Tawadros Brings World-Class Oud Virtuosity to Wauchope and Bellingen This November
MID NORTH COAST, NSW — Mid North Coast audiences are in for an unforgettable musical experience this November as internationally acclaimed oud virtuoso and composer Joseph Tawadros AM returns to Australia for a series of regional performances, presented by the Bowerbird Collective.
Born in Cairo, raised in Australia and now based in London, Tawadros is a master of the oud—a traditional fretless Arabic lute considered the ancestor of the modern guitar. Renowned worldwide for his extraordinary technique, infectious humor, and deeply moving compositions, the eight-time ARIA Award winner effortlessly bridges traditional Middle Eastern music with contemporary, cross-genre innovation.
Described by The Australian as “one of the most impressive musicians to emerge in Australia,” Tawadros’s performances are celebrated for their dazzling tempos, soul-stirring depth, and joyous connection with audiences. The Sydney Morning Herald praises his work as “music that is a mirror of truth; a bridge between his heart and mind and those of his listeners.”
