The new Connell Park sports fields will be closed to the public for almost two weeks from Monday 14 September for scheduled maintenance works.
The works includes aeration of the playing surface to improve turf health, drainage, and field resilience by reducing soil compaction and increasing the flow of air, water, and nutrients to the root zone.
270 tonnes of sand and organic top-dressing will be applied to the field to improve soil health. Council will notify of herbicide spraying following the guidelines of the Pesticide Use Notification Plan.
To ensure the works can be completed effectively and allow the turf sufficient time to recover, the fields will be temporarily closed until Friday 25 September (weather and contractor availability permitting).
